My name is José Vennix, and I am a Dutch counseling psychologist and psychotherapist in the Leiden and Marbella area. I often divide my time between the Netherlands and Spain, where I lived during my teenage years.

I have met, worked, and lived with people from all over the world because I spent working and living in an international and multicultural setting for the majority of my life. Meeting so many different people from various cultures has led me to believe that an integrative approach consisting of various therapy approaches is the most effective way to help create a positive change; I believe that because each person is unique and has unique needs, a therapy approach is the most effective if it is tailored to specifically fit that person’s needs.

My personal goal in therapy is to help you explore, identify, and work to overcome everything that gives you distress and keeps you from living the life you truly desire, whilst helping you create ways to move towards the life you have always envisioned for yourself.

My qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, as well as a Master of Arts in Psychology with an emphasis in Counseling Psychology from Webster University-Leiden. During this Master's degree, a large portion of my internship consisted of conducting supervised therapy in English with expats and in Dutch, with locals, by using various therapeutic approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and the Client-Centered Therapy approach, for example. I aim, however, to expand my therapeutic skills whenever I can by taking additional psychological courses that will deepen and add to my already existing knowledge.
